Featherweight Cole Province has been suspended nine months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission following an administrative hearing held Friday morning, according to Keith Kizer, Executive Director of the NSAC.
Province will not be cleared to fight until early May of 2010. He was also fined $4,000.
The 28-year-old Oklahoma resident was placed on temporary suspension eight days after decisioning Fredson Paixao at WEC 42 when a post-fight urinalysis revealed the presence of designer steroid Methasterone.
In a statement released to MMAWeekly.com following his initial suspension, Province admitted he had taken an over-the-counter supplement without checking its ingredients, but did not admit to steroid use.
