Coker: Bellator will pursue Lesnar
Scott Coker: “We’ve had a conversation internally and it’s worth a conversation, but that’s something we’ll pursue maybe later into January.”
Since taking over as Bellator President, Scott Coker has made some changes to the way the organization was run and pursued some top talent. Coker appeared on today’s The MMA Hour and discussed the possibility of pursuing former UFC heavyweight champion and WWE star Brock Lesnar:
“That’s a good question,” Coker told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s The MMA Hour when asked in Bellator is interested in signing Lesnar. “We’ve had a conversation internally and it’s worth a conversation, but that’s something we’ll pursue maybe later into January.”
While Coker is playing coy in terms of any specifics, he was unequivocal in saying Lesnar fits the profile of the kind of free agent signing Bellator would be interested in pursuing.
“I would say, look, any fighter that’s out there or any star athlete – not star athlete in the sense of a baseball player, but like a Brock Lesnar – that really wants to fight, we’re going to have a conversation with them. Because if they can move the needle, we’re going to want them on Spike TV.
