There is a tradition in some BJJ schools called “running the gauntlet,” in which the final step in earning a new belt is two walk between two rows of teammates, gi off, as they wack the newly promoted student with their belts.

To some it is a valuable team building exercise; others view it more as an unfortunate frat boy hazing ritual, or even akin to being beaten into a street gang.

Regardless of your view, the overwhelming response to this is… CHRIS LEBEN IS ONLY A BLUE BELT??!? 🙂
