Chatri Sityodtong has released exciting details surrounding ONE Championship’s historic Middle East debut.

The ONE Chairman and CEO appeared on SCMP MMA podcast last week to discuss the promotion’s blockbuster “ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs. Ham” event, which goes down at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on September 29, and he also hinted that an event in the Middle East would fall in the final months of 2023.

“But next year, we’re kicking off with our September event (ONE Fight Night 14), then we have a big event in the Middle East in Q4,” he said.

Sityodtong then took to social media this week to signal the return of the promotions’ numbered events and confirmed the location of the show with a short post:

“ONE 165: Qatar!!!”

The event will be the first numbered show since ONE 164 last December and the martial arts giant’s first in the Middle East.

SCMP is also reporting that ONE 165 will be headlined by a staggering five world title bouts across the four disciplines showcased by the promotion – mixed martial arts, muay Thai, kickboxing, and submission grappling.

Two blockbuster matchups mentioned in the report are a possible ONE middleweight MMA world title battle between divisional king Reinier de Ridder (16-1) and heavyweight and light heavyweight MMA king Anatoly Malykhin (13-0) and a rumored ONE flyweight submission grappling world title match featuring divisional king Mikey Musumeci and ONE flyweight MMA world champion Demetrious Johnson.

ONE’s expansion into the Middle East kicked up a gear this past June when the organization signed a memorandum of understanding with Media City Qatar.

ONE also has a multi-year broadcast deal with Qatari-owned network beIN Sports to bring its events to the region, while a portion of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” was shot in the country’s capital of Doha earlier in 2023.
