Matthew H. Anselmo, 37, of Bellevue faces charges that include wire fraud, mail fraud and money laundering.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Anselmo solicited investments and loans from family members, friends and business acquaintances while he was the owner and manager of M&M Marketing, a golf-outing business, and Premier Fighter, a mixed martial arts apparel business.
He promised at least a 20 percent return, but used the money to pay off previous investors, pay off debts, gamble and buy a personal residence and vehicles, according to court documents.
The scheme cost 13 victims about $4 million.
