Cerrone vs. Brown at UFC 206

UFC 205 on Saturday is the best card in mixed martial arts history. UFC 207 on December 30 is headlined by the return of Ronda Rousey, the most famous fighter in MMA history. UFC 206 on December 10 is not like the others.

The UFC had hoped to deadline 206 with the return of former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, but that fell through. Light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson is now the main and featherweights Max Holloway vs. Anthony Pettis is the co-main.

One of the most anticipated fights at UFC 205 was Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum. Unfortunately, Gastelum disgracefully failed to make weight by so big a mark he didn’t bother even stepping on the scales.

Gastelum is in the doghouse, and ino longer welcome at welterweight ever. However, the loss of Cowboy at UFC 205 is UFC 206’s gain.

Cerrone will now fight Matt ‘The Immortal’ Brown in Toronto. Although the fight is not official, both sides have agreed to it. Brown had been scheduled to fight Tarec Saffiedine at UFC 207; the Belgian will now presumably get a different opponent at 207.

Cerrone is on a three-fight win streak since moving up to welterweight, with each fight winning a $50,000 performance bonus. By contrast, Brown has lost two of the last three, both within the distance.
