Some athletic commission reveal salary information for combat sports, so the salaries for some athletes are known publicly. However what is not known is the expenses an athlete occurs during a fight camp. These can include coaches, special food, gym expenses, traveling expenses, paid sparring partners, and more. For UFC lightweight Donald Cerrone, he estimates spending $20,000 in his latest fight camp:

“I spent quite a bit of money bringing people in and getting ready for this fight,” Cerrone said on Wednesday.

Cerrone invested quite a bit of funds to get ready for Jury, but it’s just what he has to do to give himself the best chance to win at UFC 182.

“It cost me $20,000,” Cerrone said about his recent training camp. “That’s not like coaches, that’s strictly bringing guys in, flights, like bringing guys in from the east coast is $1000 round trip, feeding them, paying them so yeah right around $20,000. This was a little more expensive just because I have the new facility and decided to bring a lot more guys in.”
