Today it was revealed that two Brazilian fighters have been released of their contract by the UFC, including a former Strikeforce lightheavyweight champion:
Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante and Daniel Sarafian will no longer compete in the UFC. MMAFighting.com confirmed an initial Saturday report by the Brazilian website Olimpo MMA.
Cavalcante (12-7, 1 NC), a 35-year-old Team Nogueira fighter, held the Strikeforce light heavyweight title in 2010, winning it from “King Mo” Lawal and losing it to Dan Henderson. He’s lost three straight bouts and four of his past five, the most recent a listless performance in a decision loss to Ovince St. Preux on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas.
