Case ‘gutted’ with first UFC loss
Johnny ‘Hollywood’ Case took to the Underground today to talk about the fight and his emotions after suffering his first UFC loss.
Johnny Case was a perfect 4-0 inside the Octagon coming into his fight with Jake Matthews at UFC 85. The two put on the ‘Fight of the Night’ performance, but Case was submitted near the end of the third round in a fight he was likely ahead on the judge’s score cards. Case took to the Underground today to talk about the fight and his emotions after suffering his first UFC loss:

Gutted with the first UFC loss, but I’m glad everyone seemed to enjoy the fight. I’ve seen some people talk crap, make comments about my hands being down, etc…. Look- I love to throw down and fist fight at the end of the day, not that whole point fighting shit- that stuff isn’t for me. My hands are far more comfortable not up by my face trying to play it safe, plus I catch a lot of guys with counters while allowing them to think my face is a catchers mitt. I will always take one to give one (well, at 155 I will with anyone). I’m not the best and have a lot to learn still, but my heart, mindset and will to win makes up for everything no matter who I’m fighting. Then again, I’m not sure what happened 18 seconds from getting the win, but I won’t make that mistake twice lol.
The fight game isn’t all about money or winning to me, I truly love to entertain and make people happy, that’s what it’s all about for me. When I almost got my eye gouged out in the Trevino fight (I still have eye problems and hole in my eye from that), the pain was so insane, I had to fight boring because that’s all I could do. Nobody understood I couldn’t see most of the fight and had a lot of pain, but the worst part was disappointing everyone on the entertainment and not giving you all a car collision of a fight. From that experience alone, I learned I would rather give a fight of the night performance that I lose, than a boring fight I win. So I apologize for any moments I didn’t entertain and you can count on me putting everything on the line and never playing it safe in all of my fights.
You don’t last or make much money with Dana, Lorenzo and Joe Silva by not taking risks anyway, so I plan to take every risk possible and hope they all pay off.
Always remember…. The fear of failure has ruined more people than taking big risks and failing ever did…. When you go for it, there is always more positive to come from it than negative. =)
Just wanted to take a minute to catch up with you all… I appreciate all of you that support and show respect. It means the world and what makes this all possible. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the support I receive… THANK YOU!
PS- I HATE when I see anyone on here trashing Dana, because so many have the wrong perception with him….. Dana is a great guy. Those that are good to him or do their job, he takes care of them more than any of you could ever imagine. The respect, appreciation, heart, care, and humility he shows behind the scenes is way above anyone I’ve ever met that’s on that level.
