Carls John de Tomas accepts one year suspension
Philippines-based fighter Carls John de Tomas has accepted a one-year suspension after failing a test for Furosemide.
Late last year it was announced that Philippines-based fighter Carls John de Tomas had failed an anti-doping test. The failure was for Furosemide a diuretic and masking agent. Now the fighter has accepted a one-year suspension.
De Tomas went a perfect 8-0 in his home nation, but came up short in the big show, losing via Unanimous Decision to Naoki Inoue at UFC Fight Night 111 and via submission to Alex Perez at UFC Fight Night 123 earlier this month. Further, de Tomas missed weight for his first fight, and was determined by the California State Athletic Commission to be ineligible to fight at flyweight for the next one.
The CSAC issued a one-year suspension to be fulfilled concurrently, and a $2,500 fine, which is substantial given the 21-year-old’s $10,000 show purse
De Tomas can return to fighting on December 29, 2018.
