In May Brazilian lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira becomes the 12th UFC fighter this year to be sanctioned for a test failure. His fight with Abel Trujillo at UFC Fight Night 88/Vegas: Almeida vs. Garbrandt on May 29 was scrapped. Ferreira was flagged for Ostarine, a selective androgen receptor modulator with steroid-like properties.
Today he was suspended for 12 months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Ferreira appeared before the board without representation. The suspension is retroactive to Ferreira’s suspension is retroactive to the May 13 date on which he was removed from the fight. The fighter will thus be elegible to compete on May 13, 2017.
Ferreira will also face punishment from USADA, the UFC’s independent testing agency that administered the test that was flagged, but that remains pending.
