MMA Digest: What are your thoughts on Jones and if there was a potential fight between yourselves, how do you think that might go?
Cain Velsquez: “It would be great man, I think he’s a really talented fighter, he’s impressive to watch, definitely. But right now, my focus is about getting 100-percent for myself, and as far as fighting right now, it’s just like … it just seems so so far away cause I’m trying just to get in the gym and trying to train. But he’s talented. He looks good in all his fights, and he’s going to be tough to beat … definitely.”

Randy Couture was less enthusiastic about the prospect:
A victory over Lyoto Machida at UFC 129 would inevitably lead to calls for Randy Couture to fight new champion Jon Jones in what would be a clash of the new and old eras of MMA.
“He’s got a ton of great tools, he’s very very impressive to watch,” Couture said of Jones. “Anytime I’m facing a guy with a wrestling background, which he has got, it makes for a much tougher fight for me. It tends to cancel out my strength, which is my own wrestling background, and then you get down to the other stuff.
“I don’t know if that’s the kind of battle that I need in this stage of my life, and it would DEFINITELY be a battle.”
