ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) is proud to announce the promotion will travel to the Roughrider State for the first time, with New Town’s 4 Bears Casino & Lodge welcoming the organization to North Dakota on Friday, September 15, for “CFFC 125: Echeverria vs. Nakanelua.”
The night’s main event features an intriguing catchweight clash, with Dana White’s Contender Series veteran Roybert “The Unbroken” Echeverria (7-1) taking on fast-rising Hawaiian-born contender Pololu “Poi Poundah” Nakanelua (6-1) and leading a main card that streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
Tickets are on sale now at 4BearsCasino.com.
The event will feature a special guest appearance from former UFC and Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate (19-9), who currently sits at No. 12 in the UFC’s official 135-pound rankings.
“It’s tremendously exciting when we’re able to bring a live CFFC event to a new part of the country, and it’s an honor for us to partner with the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation to visit North Dakota for the first time,” Miranda Granger (CFFC business development) said. “We look forward to fans in the area experiencing our unparalleled brand of fast-paced excitement and top-quality MMA action, as well as to discovering new talent in the market and assisting them in achieving their goals of reaching the sport’s highest stage.”
The Venezuelan-born Echeverria opened his professional career with seven straight victories, including five first-round finishes, earning him an invite to Dana White’s Contender Series this past September. After suffering a frustrating loss in a spirited matchup with Jafel Filho, “The Unbroken” now looks to return to the win column and continue his journey to the sport’s highest levels.
Meanwhile, Nakanelua enters the contest on the strength of back-to-back victories, traveling from his training base at Las Vegas’ Xtreme Couture to pick up wins in Idaho and Oregon. “Poi Poundah” now looks for his third consecutive result at 130 pounds as he contemplates potential futures in both flyweight and bantamweight divisions.
Additionally, the co-main event of the evening features a 175-pound clash between the undefeated Nick “King Black Cat” Meck (6-0) and 14-fight veteran J.P. “Too Much” Saint Louis (9-5).
Also expected to compete at CFFC 125 are Alexa Conners (7-4), Caleb “Native Warrior” Jensen (1-1), Sharif “The Cheetah” Oripov (Pro debut), Kevin “Sweet Peas” Pease (2-0), Elizabeth “Lil Bruisie” Schroder (3-3) and Kris Williams (2-0), among others.
A full lineup of matchups for CFFC 125 will be announced shortly. All Elite Wrestling superstar and two-time UFC veteran CM Punk calls the action alongside MixedMartialArts.com editor-in-chief John Morgan for UFC Fight Pass.
