Bullet: Montano is legit champ, but after Saturday not for long
Valentina Shevchenko: “She’s at where she is now but not for long because my goal is to fight for the title. This is what I want.”

The UFC women’s flyweight champion was decided during a season of TUF, and Nicco Montano emerged as champion. Now savages from above and below are circling. #1 bantamweight Valentina Shevchenko makes her division debut vs. undefeated Priscila Cachoeira at UFC Fight Night 125 on February 3, 2018, in Belem, Brazil. With a win, ‘Bullet’ would likely get a title shot.
She showed for everyone that she deserves this title, said Shevchenko to Damon Martin for MMAWeekly. She won all her fights in the reality show. She won her title fight against Roxanne Modafferi. So she just showed that she’s a real one who deserves it. It’s good because she showed that she will never give up. She will fight all five rounds very tough and she will do her best.
This is a great thing. This is good from the champion.
She’s at where she is now but not for long because my goal is to fight for the title. This is what I want.”
Montano is healing up from a foot injury that she fought through in the title-winning performance vs. MWWA pioneer Roxanne Modafferi at The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale on December 1, 2017. Shevchenko was asked if she believes she’ll get the title shot with a win on Saturday.
I guess everybody believes it. I hope the UFC believes it, too, she said with a laugh. Yes, I agree totally. If everyone wants to see me fight for the title, I guess I have to fight for the title.
