For the first time since his UFC 185 decision loss to Johnny Hendricks, welterweight Matt Brown spoke out on The Great MMA debate and reflected on the fight:
“I lost but I’m not defeated. I’m only disappointed in myself. I know in my heart, with every ounce of energy in me, I can be a champion,” Brown said on Tuesday.
“I just fought the two previous champions and I know where I’m at. I’m honest enough person if that really, truly say if that wasn’t the case. I’d sit here and say ‘I cannot be champion, I’m going to fight for fun because I f—ing just love fighting and I’m going to go out there and swing for the fences and get Fight of the Night and go home’. That’s something I wouldn’t care doing that until I’m 40 years old. But I know I can be champion.”
