In a piece for MMAjunkie yesterday, Ben Fowlkes memorably captured former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
“He shows up with his crew cut and his scowl, looking like a comic book bully and acting like his only regret is that there’s no locker big enough to shove all of humanity in at once,” wrote Fowlkes.
At the UFC 200 post fight press conference, Lesnar, fresh off a win over Mark Hunt, was asked a blunt question.
“I know whether it was football, or wrestling in college, or when you were in the UFC, you always seemed to thrive on the chance to truly dominate another person,” said the reporter. “How did it feel to be able to do that again?”
Lesnar replied in kind.
“Really good,” he said, with an expression of troubled confession. “I hate to say it, but ever since I was a little kid, I’ve just been a bully. And I like, not necessarily just picking on anybody, I just like getting my nose dirty and getting, you know, I never turned down a fight.
“Even when I was a young kid, my mom used to chew my ass, because I’d go to town looking for fights. And she said ‘If you’re going to do it, might as well earn some money at it GOD BEEP!’ So, here I am.
“But I’m older, and when I decided to make this comeback, it was a hard decision. I had been gone for a long time. And I’m glad I did it. And this goes to show for anybody that’s out there, if you don’t stick your neck out, you’re never going to get ahead. And so I’m not scared to stick my neck out.
“So, I don’t know if that answers your question or not.”
