Yesterday the Nevada State Athletic Commission voted unanimously to end Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT).

Today the regulating body in Brazil, Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), has followed suit..

CABMMA medical director Dr. MarcioTannure had first intended to hold a hearing to consider the change, now has determined that no more TUE will be issued. The announcement came via SporTV (Portuguese language).

“We discussed this subject for a long time here at CABMMA,” said Tannure as translated by Guilherme Cruz, “As we use Nevada’s athletic commission as a model, we decided to make the same decision here in Brazil and no longer grant TRT exemptions for any fighter.”

However, Dan Henderson will be allowed to to use TRT for his fight vs. Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua at Henderson vs. Shogun II in Natal Brazil on March 23. That will be the final TUE issued by CABMMA.

Chael Sonnen will not be issued a TUE for his fight with Wanderlei Silva, headlining the UFC Fight Night card on May 31 in Brazil.
