Eddie Bravo recently apeared on MMAJunkie Radio to discuss the potential effect of Metamoris on Jiu-Jitsu, which he likens to what the UFC did for MMA. Bravo will appear in the main event of Metamoris 4, in a rematch with Royler Gracie. Bravo famously won the first match, via triangle, at the Abu Dhabi Submission Wrestling World Championship some ten years ago.
It will be a 20-minute match, with no points, but a panel of three judges deciding the victor in the absence of a submission.
“What Metamoris is doing is basically what the Fertittas did for MMA,” said Bravo. “We’re lucky to finally have all this money behind jiu-jitsu. It’s long overdue, and I’m happy that it’s right here, right now.
“All that’s happened in the past with the rematch, and is it on, is it off – all that, it was meant to be. Because the rematch couldn’t have been better timed. Now, you can get paid with just jiu-jitsu. You don’t have to do MMA.”
“I’m going to try to finish him. I don’t want to go 20 minutes. I want to end it at eight.”
“Rickson very well might be studying my game. It’s hard to wrap my brain around that.”
