Hawai’i’s Max Holloway unified the 145lbs titles at UFC 212 Saturday night with a third-round TKO victory over Jose Aldo in Brazil. ‘Blessed’ is now on an eleven-fight win streak. His last loss was in 2013 to a guy named Conor McGregor. Holloway was asked about a rematch.

“Like I said before, I’m going to say it again,” began Holloway, as transcribed by Chisanga Malata for the UK’s Daily Star. “That guy was a 2015 champ,” ‘Blessed’ said. “He can go run around wherever he at with the belt and celebrate it. Because guess what, you can’t take it away from him.

“But this is called the year 2017 right now. He’s the 2015 champ and I’m the champ. If he wants come back down, he can come and get it. But if not, it is what it is, you know.”

“He’s a different guy. He’s a guy who is always looking over the fence, he’s always trying to look for the next great thing. He never really showed that he was a champion, you know, like DJ – Demetrious Johnson, he finds this motivation of ‘keep defending, keep defending.’ It takes a special human being to do that, and that’s me.

“I want to defend my throne. All my fans know and love me because I want to defend this. I want to show the champ and keep defending. Come try take my village. Off with your head, that’s what I’m going to do.

“This guy is over here and is always trying to look for the bigger thing, that’s him. Good for him, you know? But at the end of the day, it was it is. I ain’t going to chase someone around, I ain’t going to talk about someone who is not talking about me. He gets to chose his fights, why am I going to cry and beg him to fight me?

“Get the hell out of here with that s***. You can beg to fight me now, dog.”
