Robin Black is back to break down Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal’s evolution from the backyard fights to the sport of mixed martial arts, heading into his fight with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC on Fox 23 on Saturday. Black begins by breaking down what gamebred means.
He then goes back to Masvidal’s origins in the Miami backyard brawl scene, with Kimbo Slice looking on, literally. Black then goes to Masvidal’s initial entry to the cage and to the UFC, noting that Masvidal remains gamebred, but defining as well where and how he has evolved.
Masvidal flows like water between ranges, out of submissions, and between striking and grappling, in a manner that would make Bruce Lee proud. In fact, Masvidal flows so well that Black proposes an additional nickname – The River.
Jorge Masvidal fights Donald Cerrone in the co-main event of UFC on Fox: Shevchenko vs. Peña (AKA UFC on Fox 23) on January 28, 2017. at Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
