Robin Black breaks down Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem

The vast majority of news content generated around mixed martial arts appeals to the lowest common denominator because that is where the eyes go. The more insulting two fighters get towards to each other, the more views. And if a fighter shoves another, the sport goes crazy.
That’s crazy.
The two are doing punch, elbow, knee, kick, choke, joint lock, slam, and pin each other as hard as an extraordinarily trained human being can. Who cares about a shove??!?
The antidote to the nonsense is Robin Black.
The former Canadian glam rock star and retired professional fighter does fight breakdowns for the UFC that reveal the technical side to a fight, deepening and broadening appreciation for mixed martial arts.
Here the ever dapper fight analyst breaks down the UFC’s heavyweight title matchup between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Alistair Overeem.
Overeem is a former Strikeforce heavyweight champion, DREAM heavyweight champion, K-1 World Grand Prix Champion, and is one of only two fighters to hold world titles in both MMA and K-1 at the same time. He holds notable victories over six former UFC champions: Andrei Arlovski (heavyweight), Fabrício Werdum (heavyweight), Frank Mir (heavyweight), Brock Lesnar (heavyweight), Junior dos Santos (heavyweight), and Vitor Belfort (light heavyweight).
A win here will put Overeem on the short list of greatest heavyweights in the sport’s history. A loss will mean he is 5-4 his last nine.
A win for the Croatian-American Miocic could be the beginning of greatness. A loss would be yet another demonstration of why no UFC heavyweight champion has ever successfully defended his belt more than twice in a row – the division is too dangerous.
UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic fights challenger Alistair Overeem at UFC 203 on Sept. 10, live on pay per view television.
