Stand your ground turned ground n pound recently in Florida. Why is it always Florida?

Alleged dirtbag Josue Ortiz allegedly snuck into Brian Burch’s garage and started loading up a getaway vehicle with tools. The good news is, Burch is a super heavyweight blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The Fort Myers father heard noise in his garage and found Ortiz carrying a jackhammer case and airgun case, to a car, which it turned out had fake plates.

“He told me that the boss sent him over here to pick up tools to finish a job,” said Burch to NBC 2.

Burch was not entirely convinced, and when the intruder tried to run, Burch put his training to use.

“I was holding him down,” said Burch. “Once I had him, he wasn’t going anywhere. Once we got to the ground, he started pushing and fighting me, and I hit him one time.”

That one shot left Ortiz with a trifecta – broken nose, bruised eye, and fat lip. A neighbor witnessed the struggle and called the police.

“I was sitting there holding him in side control when the police arrived,” said Burch. “[The neighbors] told him he got exactly what he deserved. I’m just glad he’s not on the street anymore and can’t hit anybody else’s home.”

Burch’s neighbors were indeed thankful.

“The fact that he manhandled him maybe, I think it’s well deserved,” said neighbor Darlene Donovan, accurately.

Ortiz was charged with grand theft and burglary and is currently in both the Lee County jail and the @$$hole Hall of Fame.
