An initial report from the Wrestling Observer indicated BJ Penn had suffered an injury that could force him off the July 2nd card. There were reports that BJ would undergo a MRI. The results were from the MRI on his shoulder were apparently not good, as MMAFighting is now reporting that BJ is out:

Just one week after Jon Fitch pulled out of his UFC 132 rematch with BJ Penn, leaving the UFC looking for a new opponent for the Hawaiian great, Penn has now been forced out of the event as well.

Penn and Fitch both agreed to a rematch shortly after their UFC 127 main event fight in Australia finished in a draw.

It remains unclear if the UFC will try to set up the rematch when both are medically clear.
