BJ Penn responds to remarks by Dana White
UFC president Dana White was recently asked by TMZ Sports to name what fighter had the greatest talent but the worst motivation, and he named UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn. Now Penn has responded in an interview with Hawaii’s KHON2 sports director Rob DeMello.
It’s flattering and it makes you sad at the same time, said Penn, as transcribed by Sam Spangler. It’s strange for me to talk, because it’s like one side we’re talking about this Hall-of-Fame career guy, and on the other side, I’m just trying to prove myself.
You got to talk about two different people, two different BJs at times. It’s his opinion and he’s entitled to that, and all I can do for my side is get in there and show them. Maybe Dana White will look back and be like, ‘You know what? Look at him now. That guy really did reach his full potential.’
Penn is currently serving a 180-day USADA suspension for taking a prohibited intravenous infusion. His suspension ends on September 25, and the fighter confirmed he will be fighting again.
