The Hawaiian star reigns supreme in the 155lbs class having beaten Joe Stevenson, Sean Sherk and Kenny Florian in his last three fights at that weight.

Penn is set to defend his crown against No1 contender Diego Sanchez on December 12 in the main event at UFC 107.

And if he emerges victorious, he has set his sights on a series of superfights against the world’s leading mixed martial artists — starting with a return bout against old nemesis St Pierre.

Penn has already lost to the Canadian twice.

The first was via a split decision at UFC 58 in 2006 before he suffered a second bruising defeat in January this year at UFC 94.

Penn retired on his stool before coming out for the fifth round of their welterweight championship clash.

But, speaking exclusively to SunSport, The Prodigy said: “I definitely want to fight GSP again.

“I’m biased and I have confidence in myself and I don’t think the fight would go anything like that if we fought again.

“I’ve got to defend the lightweight title and take on all challenges that make me better but if I get a chance to fight GSP again — even if it was a non-title fight — I’d jump at the opportunity.”

Penn remains fully focussed on his title defence against Sanchez later this year and claims The Nightmare will prove a tough opponent to overcome.

He said: “Diego is a great opponent and a great test for me. Right now is a perfect time in my career to fight him.

“I’ve got good training coaches, a good regime — it’s going to be a great fight and it has the capability of being one of my biggest tests at 155lbs.”
