Bisping: Weidman fought a bunch of has beens

“He’s fought a bunch of has-beens. The first time he fights a real guy, he loses. God bless you Chris, good luck with the rest of your career. My score: I give you a C-.”

Veteran UFC middleweight contender Michael Bisping appeared recently on UFC Tonight and reflected on the loss recently suffered by former division champion Chris Weidman. “The Count” was not impressed.

“Alessio Sakara, Demian Maia and Tom Lawler, these are not the caliber of fighters I’ve been fighting,” began Bisping, as transcribed by Brad Popkin for MMA Mania. “Then Chris fought Anderson, who messes around and gets knocked out. Then he comes back and breaks his leg. Sorry those are the facts, not speculation. He’s fought a bunch of has beens. The first time he fights a real guy, he loses. God bless you Chris, good luck with the rest of your career. My score: I give you a C-. It’s low, but still a pass.”

Weidman’s beat Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, and Anderson Silva (twice) and all were top 5 fighters. However, their average age was 37, which Bisping argues was a factor.

Bisping is in a two-fight win streak, and the loss before that was to now champion Luke Rockhold. Trash talk puts asses in seats, and this was pretty good trash talk. So it may be likely that Bisping is aiming for a fight with Weidman. First though, Bisping has to fight former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion GegardMousasi at UFC Fight Night 83, on February 27, 2016, at the The O2 Arena in London, England?, in front of a hometown crowd.
