Bisping: McGregor was trying to look after his boys
Michael Bisping: “onor is just trying to look after his boys, right? Which you got to applaud him for. He made a mistake. That’s all it is.”

The wheels appeared to come off former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor on Friday. When he heard that SBGi teammate Artem Lobov had a confrontation with Khabib Nurmagomedov early last week, McGregor gathered up a posse of over a dozen hapless hangers-on, and concocted a plan to fly across the Atlantic and attack a bus Nurmagomedov was on.
Shockingly, the managed somehow to reach the US. They even attacked the bus, damaging it. And the flying glass injured two fighters to the point they couldn’t fight on Saturday night. They also greatly amused Nurmagomedov.
The condemnation of McGregor’s attack was widespread, with UFC president Dana White calling it the most disgusting thing in the history of the UFC. However, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping offered an alternative view, in a conversation with TMZ, that began with a question about a “gang” attack.
There are no gangs in MMA, said Bisping, as transcribed by Jesse Holland for MMA Mania. There are gangs in England. There are gangs in Dublin. There’s gangs all over the world just like right here. There are no gangs in MMA. Conor is not trying to be a gangster. Conor is just trying to look after his boys, right? Which you got to applaud him for. He made a mistake. That’s all it is.
And McGregor has offered his first response since the baffling, flailing attack, an image with an enigmatic hands in prayer caption.
