Michael Bisping was the definitive gatekeeper, alternating wins and losses for years across eight fights. Then late in his career The Count improbably hit his stride, and won the last five in a row. One of those recent wins was a unanimous decision over the UFC G.O.A.T. Anderson Silva.
Bisping is currently scheduled to defend his middleweight belt against Yoel Romero. However, high-level fights in MMA are like New England weather – If you don’t like it, just wait a few minutes.
A rematch for the title between Bisping and Silva would suit Silva. It would suit Bisping – Romero is 8-0 in the UFC, while The Spider is 0-4 with one NC since 2013. And it would probably suit most fans too. So Silva is looking for a fight, via his social network.
Silva recently posted a montage of four images on his Instagram, and captioned them in two languages:
1 – Where did this punch come from?
2 – Kick in the mouth! Where did it come from?
3 – I will run from this guy! I hope they’ll help me in this fight!
4 – I think I’m going to go to sleep and I’ll come back later, because I’m at home!
It is always good to fight at home. God Save the Queen! The day I knocked someone out and ended up losing by points. In the Queen’s land it is no different from Brazil, fighting at home has its advantages! God save the Queen!
Bisping jumped to respond.
“This is only in response to Anderson Silva,” he wrote. “You’re still whining on Instagram about the decision. Saying I ran the whole time and you knocked me out lol. First off, I backed you up the entire fight and dropped you twice, also I clearly out struck you the entire fight. You landed a cheap shot in the third which dropped me at the end of the round, not KO’d me lol. Man, you’re so used to everyone bowing down to you, your head is messed up. You lost! Deal with it. A true martial artist should have honour and respect in defeat as well as victory. Also they don’t take steroids, you sir are a fake!!!!!”
Given the pressure the UFC is under to realize a return on a $4,000,000,000 investment, if for some reason Romero can’t make the title fight when it is scheduled, there won’t be a wait for him, there will be Anderson Silva.
