Michael Bisping: How Eddie Alvarez would KILL Conor McGregor

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor beat Nate Diaz in the rematch at UFC 202, and before they ever left the Octagon, both fighters called for a trilogy fight. Their two fights are widely believed to be among the highest pay per views in league history.

It made financial sense for all involved to hold a trilogy fight, but UFC president Dana White said that Conor needs to defend his belt, or give it up, at least for the time being.
Now McGregor appears to have two choices for his next fight. One, he can defend his title, in a rematch vs. interim champion Jose Aldo. Or he can give up the title, and fight UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
The latter course is the one his coach John Kavanagh advises.
I think it would be nice for him to be the champion, get the belt at 55 and then defend it against Nate, said Kavanagh. I think that would be a pretty amazing fight. Maybe in Croke Park in Dublin. I’d push for that. How cool would that be?
However, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping doesn’t think that Alvarez is a good stylistic match up, at all.
I think looking at that last fight, he does not want to fight Eddie Alvarez at 155,” said Bisping to Chisanga Malata for Daily Star Sport.
“I think Alvarez kills him man. He’ll just take him down and destroy him. I’m not saying that to be mean, I just think stylistically.
“I like Conor. Conor is incredible, he’s done amazing things for this sport. He’s brought so many eyes on to it, he’s making so much money and he’s exciting as hell. He brings excitement.”
