Alistair Overeem went 12 fights without a loss, before he was stopped in the 3rd by Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at UFC 156 early last year. ‘Reem has gone just 1-2 since then, including a KO loss to Ben Rothwell last Friday. In an interview with Ivan Raupp for Brazil’s Combate, Silva said the ‘despicable’ Overeem is “reaping what he sowed.”

Silva was a member of the Blackzilian camp, but when Overeem joined the team in Feb of 2012, Bigfoot left and rejoined ATT, as he felt the pair were going to fight soon. The Dutchman publicly characterized the Brazilian’s move as stupid.

“I think it was the stupidest thing on his part,” said Reem at the time. “This is a really good team with a really strong manager backing it and a lot of good people. I just don’t think it was a clever thing to do.”

Eventually Overeem too left the Blackzilians, but Silva did not forget his remarks.

“I was flying to Brazil and at the airport and I had the opportunity to sit and watch the Overeem fight,” said Bigfoot, laughing. “He is a comedy, a cartoon. You have to feel sorry for a guy like that… You don’t win the fight talking. We get better through training, through going out there and doing your best. Unfortunately it’s the opposite with Overeem – he really likes to talk.

“But each one of us lives his own life. He is reaping what he sowed. Who plants the good reaps good. He’s a despicable person and does not deserve much attention from people… He’s a guy who just leaves enmity wherever he goes. It’s sad to see a person like him, because we never wish harm on a person, never want to see a person in this situation.”

Bigfoot speculated that he may have contributed to Overeem’s recent losses.

“It may be that I gave him issues with his chin,” said Silva. “But I’m sure he was psychologically shaken. When he sees a big guy, he must get scared, close his eyes, and remember something.”

Then Silva laughed.

Bigfoot fights Andrei Arlovski this Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Bigfoot vs. Arlovski 2, in his hometown of Brasilia, Brazil, live on UFC Fight Pass.
