BRAVE CF president Mohammed Shahid, a long-time admirer of Ramazan Gitinov, believes the lightweight star is currently in the best shape of his life, as he dropped down to 155 pounds for the pro ranks following a lengthy and legendary run in the amateur welterweight division.
The No. 1 amateur of all time has captured the imagination of fans around the world in only his second professional fight, as he put Abderrahman Errachidy to sleep with an arm-triangle choke in the first round of their BRAVE CF 71 fight on Monday.
And Shahid believes the sky’s the limit for the 26-year-old, who improved his win streak to an incredible 32 fights, 30 of those in the amateur ranks.
“I have never seen him in better shape before. Ramazan showed he’s on another planet. Dropping to lightweight is great for him, since he doesn’t have to make weight throughout the week like in IMMAF tournaments. I believe the sky’s the limit for him, and he’s already a top-5 fighter in any promotion,” said Shahid.
During his time in amateur mixed martial arts, Ramazan used to compete three to four times in a week, depending on the tournament, which has served him well as he looks to make a successful transition to the pro ranks.
Under the IMMAF banner, Gitinov became the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, winning three world championships, seven gold medals in total, and is widely considered as the best amateur fighter in mixed martial arts history.
