Featherweight Dennis Bermudez faces a tough test in veteran Jeremy Stephens at UFC 189, but feels like he has the skill set to make his opponent ‘look stupid’:
“I’m a way better wrestler than Jeremy Stephens,” he insisted.
“So I mean, changing levels, making him think I’m going for a takedown, hitting him up top, going down stairs, and my leg kicks are great. I mean I should think I beat him in every aspect of the sport. From striking, to wrestling, to Jiu Jitsu, I’m better than him everywhere. If we stand there and we hit a punching machine that calculates exactly how hard we hit, maybe, maybe, he’ll beat me there, and that’s an ‘if’.”
Should Bermudez do what he is capable of, he believes he’ll out-class the “Lil Heathen.”
“He definitely has a lot of pressure on him, and pressure can make the guys fold,” he concluded.
“I’m looking to go in there and just flow and just do what I do. Realistically, try to have a good time with it, making him look stupid.”
