Former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson famously proposed to long-time girlfriend Maria Magana in the cage after beating Gilbert Melendez in April.
The pair got married in Phoenix in a surprise ceremony, as detaied by Tracy Lee.
It was a pleasure to be in the know with Ben Henderson and his Secret New Years Wedding Prank last week. His entire family was in town for the wedding set for Friday, January 3rd. But somewhere in the midst of all the wedding planning, ideas changed and grew a life of their own as the couple secretly conspired against their friends and family.
It was Tuesday afternoon, New Years Eve and everyone was under the impression that they were headed to a wedding rehearsal dinner and New Years Party. Through a comedy of errors in the next few hours in an effort to keep everything a secret (so many things going wrong, so many going right), just before midnight it all pulled together somehow and the shocked family watched as Maria walked down the aisle (with her father who had found out 5 minutes prior) to meet her beau at the altar.
Just after midnight, John Crouch who was officiating said, By the power vested in me by the State of Arizona, I now pronounce you Husband and Wife. You may kiss your bride! To which we all erupted in cheers! And then, I now present to you, for the very first time, Mr. & Mrs. Henderson!
On Friday, the original event went as planned except instead of getting married at The Venue of Scottsdale, they played the wedding video from their secret rendezvous on NYE.

Henderson fights Josh Thomson at UFC on Fox 10 on Jan. 25, so there will be no honeymoon until afterwards.
