Andy Foster, executive director of the California State Athletic Commission runs combat sports tightly. At the UFC Fight Night 123 weigh-ins, bantamweight Benito ‘Golden Boy’ Lopez shoved opponent Albert Morales, and now he’s out 10% of his show money.

As the fighters stared each other down, Morales unexpectedly yelled “BOO” and Lopez responded with a shove; Morales did not respond. CSAC has a sticks and stones policy – “BOO” won’t hurt you, but getting physical will. Lopez has been fined 10% of his $10,000 show money. If he wins, he will win an additional $10,000; that will not count towards the 10%.

Lopez is making his UFC debut, after being successful on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in August.
