Welterweight Ben Saunders went 1-3 his last four fights in Bellator MMA:
9/20/2013 • Loss • Douglas Lima • Bellator MMA 100 • KO at 4:33 of Round 2
2/21/2013 • Win • Raul Amaya • Bellator MMA 90 • KO at 2:56 of Round 1
1/24/2013 • Win • Koffi Adzitso • Bellator FC 86 • Unanimous Decision
7/20/2012 • Win • Brian Warren • Bellator FC 72 • TKO/RSC at 0:22 of Round 1
However, Saunders has been released by the Newport Beach, California based company. Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney detailed the reasoning to MMAMania.
“I’ve been a ‘Killa B’ fan for years, and Ben’s given 100 percent of his heart every single time he’s stepped into the Bellator cage,” said Rebney. “After competing in three Bellator tournaments, Ben could never get to the top of that mountain, and as we continue to grow and expand I spoke to Ben and we both decided it was time to move in a different direction, so we provided Ben his complete release.”
Saunders came on the UnderGround, and confirmed that he was happy with the release.

I want to thank Bjorn Rebney for letting me go. I fullfilled my contract and I wanted to be a free agent again.
Life just got interesting…. 🙂

No one should be feeling bad about this… it was my decision.
They originally wanted to resign me. Me and Bjorn talked. This was what I wanted & he obliged. My relationship is still good with them and I was given the option to resign if I choose to. We left on a good note. I just felt the need to have control over my own Destiny. 🙂
