Bellator’s Doug Marshall reportedly fails drug test

Bellator middleweight Doug Marshall had a bad night on Nov 22. He got knocked out in the first round by Alexander Shlemenko, and later was suspended by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission for a failed drug test.

Pennsylvania Athletic Commission head Greg Sirb confirmed the positive drug test result, but did not state what substance caused the positive test. Sirb further did not state the length of the suspension.

Marshall has previously received a Therapeutic Use Exemption for Testosterone Replacement Therapy from the Mohegan Tribe Commission, Mike Mazzull, Director.

Bellator MMA founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney issued a statement on Monday to TheMMAReport.com about the suspension of the middleweight fighter.

Greg Sirb at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission operates one of the best commissions in the country, said Rebney. Doug Marshall will have to adhere to any and every penalty that the Pennsylvania Commission delivers. When competing at the highest level, fighters are expected to train and prepare for their fights according to the rules and should fully expect to be tested at every Bellator event.
