Bellator heavyweight Blagoy Ivanov stabbed, in serious condition

Current Bellator heavyweight contender and 2008 Combat Sambo World Heavyweight Championship Blagoy Ivanov is reportedly undergoing surgery after being stabbed. Local reports say he was in a restaurant at around 5:00 am when his party was attacked by a group of seven or eight men armed with batons, guns, and knives.

News accounts say Blagoy was stabbed under the armpit, and that the wound is very deep and reaches the heart.

Two other people received injuries in the attack. Both have cirminal records.

Police are currently questioning individuals in connection with the incident.

The attack took place at the Graf Ignatiev restaurant, in the Bulgarian capital or Sofia.

The 35 year old Bulgarian is undefeatedi n MMA, and beat Fedor Emelianenko in the semi finals of the 2008 Combat Sambo worlds.
