UFC middleweights Vitor Belfort and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza are each viable candidates for a title shot, but they will be fighting each other on May 14 at a UFC event held in Brazil.

The announcement was made on Combate TV by Giovani Decker, UFC senior VP and general manager of Brazil.

The leading candidate to fight middleweight champion Luke Rockhold had been Yoel Romero, but he has potentially failed a drug test. The #1 contender now is likely the winner of Belfort vs. Jacare. Belfort gave Rockhold his sole loss in the UFC and would be an undeniable candidate if he wins. Jacare too would be a tremendous choice, with his sole loss coming to Romero at UFC 194, in a now perhaps disputed decision.
