Earlirer this week, rising middleweight contender Alan Belcher voiced his desire to take a step up in competition and face the top middleweights in the UFC, targeting match ups with Vitor Belfort and former UFC middleweight title contender Demian Maia.
It appears Belcher got what he asked for, as he and Maia have verbally agreed to meet at UFC Fight Night 22 in September, according to MMA Fighting.
Belcher (16-6) is 4-1 in his last five bouts, which includes a current two fight winning streak. He most recently scored a second-round submission win over Patrick Cote at UFC 113 earlier this month. His rear-naked choke submission win over Cote earned him an extra $65,000, as he was awarded the “Submission of the Night” fight night bonus.
