The latest edition of Robin Black‘s 5 Rounds on the Fight Network is his greatest, eva. In it he debuts The Sapp-Alvarez Scale, which reveals the intangibles in the sport.

On the horizontal scale is risk taking or risk aversion. On the vertical scale is Willingness And Ability to Embrace Suffering. At one extreme in the sport sits Bob Sapp, and at the other, Eddie Alvarez.

Using the scale, Black looks at Francis Carmont, Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones, and GSP, and discusses the sweet spot.

Black is a former glam rock star, who brings the passion of fighting and the passion of rock n roll to his breakdowns, and to his work as an MMA color commentator and media figure, both on the Canadian MMA scene and internationally.
