Baszler: Rousey against anyone ‘is a mismatch’
Shayna Baszler: “…I still think ‘Cyborg’ makes more mistakes than Ronda does in her fights. You can’t make a single mistake if you’re going to fight someone like Ronda.”
Ronda Rousey has been an absolute dominant champion since the UFC introduced the woman’s bantamweight division. She has looked almost unstoppable and that is because, according to teammate Shayna Baszler, she is a ‘mismatch’ for anyone in the division:
I think under any circumstances that are normal, Ronda versus anyone is a mismatch, Baszler said at Thursday’s UFC Fight Night 62 media day in Brazil.
While Baszler doesn’t seem to believe there’s a fighter who is currently capable of putting the first blemish on Rousey’s undefeated record, there has been lasting interest in a matchup with Invicta FC featherweight titleholder Cristiane Cyborg Justino.
Baszler suffered a second-round TKO loss to Justino in 2008 and Cyborg has not lost since. Regardless, she still believes Rousey wins that hypothetical matchup.
The thing about ‘Cyborg’ is, I think you can say anyone has a puncher’s chance, Baszler said. ‘Cyborg’s’ puncher’s chance is greater than others, but I still think ‘Cyborg’ makes more mistakes than Ronda does in her fights. You can’t make a single mistake if you’re going to fight someone like Ronda.
