Barao vs. Dillashaw to now serve as UFC 173 main event
UFC President Dana White confirmed Thursday that Renan Barao will face Team Alpha Male contender T.J. Dillashaw in the main event of UFC 173.

Earlier this week it was announced the Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida would be moved to July, which left May’s UFC 173 in need of a main event. Tonight, the UFC announced what that fight would be:
Renan Barao, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s bantamweight champion, will be the new headliner for the May 24 UFC 173 card, replacing injured Chris Weidman, USA TODAY Sports has learned.
UFC President Dana White confirmed Thursday that Barao (32-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) will face Team Alpha Male contender T.J. Dillashaw (9-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the main event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
