Fresh off his sensational knockout of Japanese MMA legend Yushin Okami at ONE 163 last month, former two-division king Aung La N Sang is pumped about ONE Championship’s big plans for 2023.

For starters, the Myanmar sports icon – who trains full-time out of Florida – is very much looking forward to the promotion’s first live event on U.S. soil.

Scheduled for May 5, 2023, in Broomfield, Colorado, ONE on Prime Video 10 already has the makings of a blockbuster showcase with its world title trilogy headliner between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes.

Like any number of other ONE Championship athletes, N Sang (28-13) hopes to compete at that historic event.

“The Burmese Python” simply said:

“Put me in, coach. I want in on that show.”

N Sang has never been one to pick and choose his opponents, so he’d be happy to square off with any one of the organization’s top MMA fighters on that card.

Beyond that, there are a handful of ONE Championship superstars he thinks American fans would wholeheartedly embrace.

First among them is reigning ONE flyweight muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, whose flashy style and inimitable personality have made him the natural torchbearer for the standup art on a global scale.

N Sang said:

“They have to showcase Rodtang and the muay Thai guys because muay Thai in four-ounce gloves is amazing. There are a lot of muay Thai fans here in the East Coast and the West Coast who love muay Thai. (They’re) fanatics. They’re going to fill up the arena.”

N Sang also thinks reigning ONE lightweight kickboxing and muay Thai world champion Regian Eersel, as well as light heavyweight kickboxing king and new ONE heavyweight kickboxing world grand prix champion Roman Kryklia, would be ideal candidates to bring world-class striking to American fans.

He said:

“There are a lot of kickboxing fans too. Eersel should be in there. The new grand prix champion and the light heavyweight champion should be in there, as well – Roman. Those would be amazing for the U.S. cards. They’ll get a lot of eyes off that card, for sure.”

N Sang targets Lumpinee Stadium shows

ONE Championship’s U.S. debut won’t be the only landmark event in 2023.

This past September, ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with the Royal Thai Army to provide weekly live shows at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium – a deal that will transform the Thai combat sports industry.

N Sang’s career has already taken him to the legendary Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, and he hopes to soon add Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium to his extensive resume.

He added:

“I would love to be on one of those cards. It would be amazing. As a fighter, for us to go to Japan and compete in the sumo arena, that was historical and amazing. To do that in Lumpinee Stadium would be amazing, as well.

“It’s one of those things that you can only dream of. Not many fighters can say they fought in Lumpinee Stadium. Not many fighters can say they fought in the sumo Arena in Tokyo. It would be great for me.”
