The only contest UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is looking for is a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. However, maybe as a negotiating tactic, maybe f*** you, McGregor said during a recent PPV Q&A that he’s interested in boxing Manny Pacquiao.
“Maybe f*** Floyd,” said McGregor. “Maybe f*** the A-side. Maybe I’ll just fight Pacquiao instead. Why not do that? Why not fight Manny and f*** Floyd?
Pacquiao was game.
If McGregor will fight me in boxing, why not?” Pacman was quoted as saying by a spokesman. His promoter of record, Bob Arum, said some calls would be made.
There are tens of millions of dollars why not, but UFC president Dana White seemed to make the question irrelevant.
I love Manny Pacquiao. But I don’t love Bob Arum, said White. “You can tell Arum to save his money and not make any calls over here because we aren’t doing business with him.
However, Arum said he would step aside for a Pacquiao vs. McGregor boxing match.
“It’s a lot of talk, everbody is having a lot of fun about it,” he began. “Sure Manny Pacquiao would like to fight Conor McGregor in boxing. ANY boxer would like to fight Conor McGregor, ’cause they’d knock him out.”
The promoter was asked about White’s refusal to negotiate with Arum.
“That’s Dana White. He needs an excuse,” replied Arum. “Dana’s a good guy. But it’s all playing around.”
“I don’t have to be involved. I ain’t getting in the ring. But that’s an easy fight for Manny, and I would love for that fight to happen.”
“It’s in their court. I tell ya, if the only impediment to Manny Pacquiao fighting Conor McGregor is because Dana doesn’t like me, then I won’t be around. I would give Manny the right and the permission to fight Conor McGregor any time the money was right for Manny.”
