Andrei Arlovski’s career has been a roller coaster.

He lost his very first fight, to Datsik. That was over a dozen years ago.

Then he had three solid wins (Zentsov, Tielrooy, and Brink) before losing twice in a row, to Ricco Rodriguez and Pedro Rizzo.

He bounced back with six straight wins over Ian Freeman, Vladdy Matyushenko, Cabbage, Tim Sylvia (earning the UFC heavyweight belt), Justin Eilers, and Paul Buentello.

Then he lost to Tim Sylvia. Twice. In a row. Arlovski did however score one of the sports greatest moments of trash talking when in response to Sylvia bragging about dating Arlosvki’s ex he said “Hey Tim, how’s taste my big beep beep?”

This was followed by the best run of his career, taking out Pe de Pano, Fabricio Werdum, Jake O’Brien, Ben Rothwell, and Roy Nelson.

Then he fought Fedor, and was winning, until he went way off the gameplan, jumping off the ground into Fedor’s fist. He lost the next three too, to Brett Rogers, Big Foot, and Sergei Kharitonov. While the Big Foot loss was a decision, the other three fights were crushing knockouts, which led some to question whether it was advisable to keep fighting at all.

Now Arlovski is set to fight Ray Lopez on August 27 in Honolulu, Hawaii for ProElite 2.0. He held a press conference today, and expressed anger when asked about potential brain damage.

“Come on, let’s be f—– serious” Arlovski said. “I’m already sick of f—— stupid questions about head injuries and weak chin. It’s f—— bulls— and honestly, it pisses me off. Who says? I don’t know. I’m feeling great. I’m in good shape and everything’s fine. Do I look like a f—— retired person or something? I don’t understand. Next question.”

“I’m looking forward to fight until 40, that’s what I want.”

Arlovski’s manager provided a more diplomatic asessment.

“Andrei would not be fighting unless he would be medically cleared. All the exams were done and no one sees anything wrong with him. Through the exams, nobody could tell whether he was or wasn’t knocked out. No one could tell that there was head trauma or damage. Physically, he’s fit to go. Everything else is in Andrei’s hands at this point.”
