At UFC 205 Conor McGregor became the first league fighter to hold two belts simultaneously. However, at KOTC: Warranted Aggression on December 19, Juan ‘The Spaniard’ Archuleta became the first King of the Cage fighter to hold belts in three divisions.
The Joe ‘Daddy Stevenson protege has been pro for just three years, and began fighting for KOTC only this year.
“When I signed the deal with King of the Cage, I sat them down and said ‘I need a promoter to get behind me … a promoter gets behind a fighter and they really push them,'” said Archuleta to Jared Jones for Champions. “What I need is you to push me as a promoter and I’ll be able to take all three of your belts. I’ll be the first one to ever do that as long as you get behind me and promote me.”

On June 4, The Spaniard stopped Chris Tickle at 0:41 of round 2 for the KOTC featherweight championship. The next month be took a five round decision over Jordan Griffin for the KOTC lightweight championship. On December 18, Archuleta took a five round decision over Derrick Mandell for the KOTC bantamweight championship.
“[Winning three titles] is very important to meet our long-term goal…which is to be pound-for-pound one of the best of all time and go in the record books by achieving something that no one else has,” said The Spaniard.
