With his January TKO win over Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis cemented his spot as the number one contender in the lightweight division. Unfortunately for Pettis that would also mean sitting on the shelf as champion Benson Henderson was set to defend that title against Gilbert Melendez. With the chance to fight for an immediate title, Pettis made the decision to move down to featherweight and fight champion Jose Aldo.
Despite now being a part of the featherweight division, and after watching Benson Henderson fight Melendez, Pettis still believes he’s the best lightweight in the world:
