Anthony Johnson: There’s no team in Reem, only I
“I ain’t got not beef with him,” said Anthony Johnson of Alistair Overeem. “I just don’t care about him. He’s not a Blackzilian… He’s Team Alistair, that’s it.”
In 2011, Alistair Overeem quit Golden Glory, and found a home with the Florida-based Blackzilians. The team is organized by the CEO of Authentic Sports Management, Glenn Robinson, who serves as Overeem’s manager.
Overeem decided to switch things up, leaving the Blackzilian camp and training instead at several gyms in Thailand for his last fight, a unanimous decision win over Frank Mir.
Robinson, who remains as Overeem’s manager, appeared on The MMA Hour and said the Dutchman is welcome back any time.
He’s welcome back, but he’s decided to do his camp in Thailand,” said Robinson. “It was a great camp… He’s welcome — he’s always welcome. It’s always his home if he wants it to be.”
However, Blackzilian Anthony Johnson, who fights Phil Davis at UFC 172, was not impressed.
“I ain’t got not beef with him,” Johnson told FOX Sports. “I just don’t care about him. He’s not a Blackzilian, he ain’t no Blackzilian. Don’t even put him in that category. He’s Team Alistair, that’s it.”
