After the signing of undefeated Mehdi Ben Lakhdhar, whose debut is scheduled for Hexagone 8 on June 3 at the Beziers Arena, another aspirational French athlete, Anthony Dizy (14-4), has been signed by Hexagone MMA for a multi-fight deal.
Dizy’s first appearance is scheduled for June 17 at Hexagone MMA 9 in the lightweight category. For Mathieu Nicourt, the promoter’s matchmaker and sport director, his latest signing marks a real success:
“I was looking for local fighters for the Reims event,” Nicourt said. “We had been talking for a while with Anthony Dizy, and in conversation, he told me that he was tempted to fight again in his home city. I am very happy to have convinced him to sign for a multi-fight deal.
A specialist in wrestling sports, Dizy first competed at the highest level in Greco-Roman wrestling, where he finished thirrd at the European Championships. On his transition to MMA in the early 2010s, the fighter enjoyed a meteoric rise that quickly placed him among the best fighters in Europe at 66 kilograms. From Bellator, Cage Warriors and BAMMA to M-1, Anthony Dizy competed in some of the world’s most prestigious mixed martial arts organizations before eventually participating in the prestigious $1 million PFL tournament in 2021. Today, at 34 years old, Dizy is determined to win over the French public again, but this time in a higher weight category (70 kilograms).
Dizy commented: “Throughout my entire career, I have never had the opportunity to fight in France, let alone in Reims, my home city. I was thinking of retiring, but Hexagone MMA’s proposal changed my mind. I am very happy to sign with the organisation and eager to show what I am worth.”
