In the UFC 208 main event, Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie will fight for the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight championship. It is the weirdest UFC title fight ever.

Holm is on a two-fight losing streak, in the lower weight division. And de Randamie is ranked only 10th, also in a lower weight division. The division debut was intended for Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg Santos, but she is out for the time being following a controversial flagged anti-doping test. The UFC determined to go forward with the army they’ve got.

In positive news, on Saturday night a legitimate potential contender emerged.

Australia’s Megan Anderson is 23, six-feet tall, and on a four-fight win streak. Her two previous fights won Performance of the Night and Saturday she won the Invicta FC interim featherweight belt, TKOing Charmaine Tweet with a head kick.

Anderson is mediagenic and ferocious.

After the fight, when some fighters cry and thank Jesus, Anderson wisely said precisely what she wanted.

Hello Mr. Dana White, she said. I will be coming for the belt, so you tell the girls – Holly or Germaine or whoever wins – I’m coming for it.”

This is what I dreamed of. This is dreams coming true. I’ve reached this dream, so now I’m gonna go to bigger and better things. I want to become the #1 in the world.

Invicta FC and the UFC have an excellent relationship. Barring a quick return of Cris Cyborg, Anderson would be a natural for the winner of Holm vs. de Randamie
